Pathology
Pathology services are available onsite 24 hours a day, seven days per week with a comprehensive range of routine tests, collected by very experienced staff.
Services available on site include:
- Biochemistry
- Blood Gases
- Haematology
- Coagulation
- Blood Bank
- Microbiology
- Cytopathology
- Histopathology
Selective tests not done on site are forwarded to a Central Pathology Laboratory at North Ryde via courier service, 4 times daily. Results for most tests are available within a few hours, or the next day.
Physiotherapy
The hospital employs a team of trained and highly skilled physiotherapists who care for patients before and after all major surgery seven days a week.
The physiotherapists participate in pre-operative clinics and discharge planning.
Cardiac Rehabilitation Program
Our out-patient Cardiac Rehabilitation Program provides effective individually tailored rehabilitation and secondary prevention for patients following a range of cardiac diagnoses, procedures and surgeries, including coronary artery stenting and open-heart surgery.
The program comprises twice weekly group exercise as well as education sessions in cardiovascular disease, its prevention and management.
The program runs for six weeks with two visits each week.
The aim of the program is to help participants live healthy, active lifestyles and reduce their risk of future cardiac problems.
How to be referred to the program
Referrals are made by the team caring for you as an in-patient at Lake Macquarie Private or your doctor.
Most private health funds cover the cost of the program; however we encourage you to check this with your health fund.
